Time & Chance

Read Ecclesiastes 9:10-12

Make today the best day of your life! We often find ourselves looking to our future and forgetting to enjoy the moments and memories that are created in the right now. Enjoy the life that God has given you and make the best of it.

Your life may not be all that you hoped for but it’s all part of God’s plan for your life. Often times we throw pity parties because we can’t get our way. As we spiritually grow in Christ we start to understand that it’s not about us but all about God.

Stop existing and start living! Whatever you do should be done with all your ability. When we die there will be no work, no planning, learning and no wisdom. Doesn’t this sound boring? Not really!

God’s word also says, He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4 NIV

That’s something to celebrate about that we will no longer have to suffer. No matter how good things may be going for you, we all at some point in this life will face adversity. It’s what you do in those circumstances that counts. Do you give up on life or keep serving?

I highly suggest you keep serving God and his people. Your breakthrough comes when you serve the Lord and his people. You aren’t focused on the situation but you have put you problems in God’s hands, knowing that he is going to work it out. He has never failed us yet!

Since you don’t know the time or day that the Lord will call you home. Do all the good while you can because one day this too shall pass. Use your time wisely and make every chance count.

My Time & Chance goes a little like this…..

1.       Reading God’s word

2.       Studying his word alone and also with others

3.       Praying alone but also with others

4.       Attending regular church services

5.       Giving back to the community

6.       Spreading God’s word

7.       Involved and active in ministry

8.       Social Media accounts are used to spread the gospel and not foolishness.

What can you add to the list?

Be Blessed!

Draw Me Closer

Parent – Child Relationship

We can’t live our lives without being led by the Holy Spirit. If we are led by the Holy Spirit we know that we are God’s children. God is our Father in heaven but his spirit dwells within us on earth – our temporary home. Let me keep it simple – God is my Father and I am his daughter. God is your Father and you are his son/daughter. To share in God’s glory we must also suffer just as Christ Jesus suffered for us to have a restored relationship with God.
For Your Glory

While we are here visiting our temporary home we eagerly long for the day to be joined with our Father in heaven. We will suffer no more when God comes for his children. We will be free in deed from sin. In this we should have hope that God’s plan is to prosper us beyond what we can see.

In the meantime, be patient knowing that one day we will be with our creator again. Remain confident in all that you do by being bold an unashamed of spreading the gospel.
We should take a moment to thank God for the Holy Spirit that intercedes on our behalf, helps us when we are weak,  when we don’t have words to say, or don’t know exactly what to say. The Holy Spirit just doesn’t go to God but pleads for us as believers, so that I our request line up with the will of God or his plan for our lives.

I can’t tell you how many times I have prayed for something and God said, NO! Then, he turned right around and blessed me with something better and greater than my request before.

Yes, for God’s glory we should be willing to do anything. We should be longing to see him and be in his presence.

God’s Love
God’s love conquers all things! I really have nothing else to say but I will. J Nothing can separate us from God’s love. No matter how many times we fall, God is right there to pick us up. No matter our situations, God still loves us. No matter the choices we have made, God still loves us.

He knew we would fail him daily, yet he sent his son to die on the cross for our sins. He forgave us long ago, yet we still walk around with guilt in our hearts wondering if God has forgotten about us or even if he still loves us. Jesus Christ restored our relationship with God. God loves us not because we deserve but because simply put God is love.

God draw us closer to you. Let your words prick our hearts so that we never forget how much you love us. Although, we fail you daily, we thank you for your agape love. Thank you for personally and collectively loving us! In Jesus name, Amen!

Woe to Those

Read Isaiah 5:20-23

What has God intended for us as his children? I would suggest that you read Isaiah chapter 5 in its entirety to understand the scriptures above. If we become what the scriptures are saying we have turned away from God and his way. We have now started to worship other Gods and are attracted to worldly things.
All things that come from God are good and aren’t evil. If we are doing the things of this world or even allowing Satan to have dominion over our lives we have turned away from God – a good thing.

We fail as Christians when we fail to obey God and serve him whole heartedly. We have attempted to take control over our own lives and have pushed God aside. We have rejected saying yes to God’s will and way in our lives.

We as believers shouldn’t desire to be a disappointment in God’s eye sight. We should be yearning to be pleasing in his eye sight.
Here are a few points drawn from the scriptures today:

ü  We should be showing God’s goodness by spreading the gospel to all that can hear.

ü  We should let our God given light shine in this dark world.

ü  We should have a sweet spirit that draws others close to our God.

ü  We should always seek God’s wisdom over our own opinions.

ü  We should refrain from being drunk so that we are alert.

ü  We should always be willing to do what is just in right in God’s sight.
We as children of God don’t want to experience God’s wrath or even him turning his back on us. God has placed us in positons to produce much fruit.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
If we don’t remain connected to God we are worthless in his kingdom building. Just as grapes rotten and stink so will our presence before the Lord have a foul odor. We want to be a sweet aroma to God’s sense of smell. We shouldn’t want to experience God’s protection being removed from us and him allowing the enemy to attack us. Keep trusting God no matter what! What the world has to offer is temporary but what God has to offer us is  eternal.

Sex can wait: Tip for Singles

A recent article was released that Seattle Seahawks quarter back Russell Wilson, has decided to wait until marriage to have sex with his girlfriend Ciara. He stated that God told him to abstain from having sex until marriage. He also asked the congregation at The Rock church to pray for them.

Has abstinence gone out of style? I have much respect for Russell Wilson making a public statement about not having sex before marriage. It shows that he is a God fearing man that loves the Lord.

God designed sex for male and female that are married. He also designed sex for procreation. (Read Genesis 1:27-28) Sex is a good thing if it’s done according to God’s plan. Intimacy is developed between two people when they join together in sexual acts.  Sex before marriage is a sin, PERIOD.

God put his foot down regarding sex before marriage. 1 Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men (NIV)

Practicing abstinence,   before marriage may not be easy for many of us! It requires that we be committed to God’s word and have self-control. Most of us know that sex before marriage can lead to having children out of wedlock. Many of those relationships don’t last and are heart breaking. The children grow up without both parents being present in the home or even in their lives.

Sex before marriage often time leads to women having abortions for unwanted children.  Sexually transmitted diseases often occur in causal relationships and this can be damaging to the physical body. There are some diseases that are curable but there are some that are not. There is usually emotional damage done when you have sex before marriage. Our relationship with God is damaged when we are disobedient to his word. It also harms our relationships with others that are in the world. How can we effectively spread the gospel, when we are ourselves are doing the same thing that the lost are doing? People are watching our Christian lifestyles and if they don’t line up with the word of God then it’s hard to minister to them and they often times will resist the message. Emotional damage can come from not being able to trust if the other person is able to have sex control by just having sex with just you.

If we have had sex outside of marriage… You may be wondering how do to I move forward? First, we want to acknowledge that we have sinned against God and ask God for forgiveness. Second, NO MORE SEX!

Yes, Russell Wilson is doing the right thing by waiting until marriage to have sex. We as singles can also do the right thing by waiting until marriage to have sex. We must fear God and keep his commandments. If you see a future with someone you are dating it’s better to wait until marriage to have sex. Do it the right way! Be courageous and make a popular decision not go with the masses but to go with God’s plan!

Heard & Obeyed

Read Genesis 22:15-18

God had commanded Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac. Abraham heard and obeyed God immediately. Abraham’s obedience to God showed that he feared, loved, and trusted God’s plan for his life. He didn’t question God but set out to do what the Lord had commanded him to do.
We should be the same way in our relationship with God. When he tells us to do something, “Just Do It!” Trusting that God knows best because he is God all by himself. Obeying God brings glory to him. As we learn in our spiritual walk that it’s not about us but all about him. Abraham is a great example for us as Christians to follow.

Think for a moment: God scarified his only son on the cross for our sins, so that we may have salvation and eternal life. Jesus was without sin, yet he suffered on our behalf to restore our relationship with God.
God tests us to see if we are willing to make a sacrifice for him. What are you willing to sacrifice? Are you willing to hear and obey God?

God has called many of us to make a sacrifice for him. Yet, we have ignored God’s voice many times. Today, I encourage you that if God has been calling you to sacrifice something in your life, so that he can be glorified. Stop running and surrender unto his will and way. God has called us to do many unusual things but in the end we see that it is for our good and to prosper us. God will bless us when we listen and obey his commands.

Give Us Wisdom

Read Proverbs 2:1-10

What is wisdom? Wisdom is seeing things from God’s point of view.
To obtain Godly wisdom you simply must ask for it and he will give it to you. The wisdom that God gives helps us to apply the knowledge we have learned through studying the word of God.

To fear the Lord means that you respect him for who he is because you stand in amazement of his glory and how he has revealed himself to us. If we seek God's wisdom and we apply it in our   Daily Christian Lifestyle, it should be reflected in all that we do.  People should be able to see your God given light shine from the inside out.
How do we LEARN to be wise?

Listen to God’s Word Everyday
God is simply wanting us to accept his word and plant his words on our hearts. Listen to him and apply his wisdom to your daily life.

Enlist Friends who Challenge You
While we are seeking God for wisdom, we need to be surrounded by friends that are wise in spirit.

Ask Questions & Accept Correction
If we are not listening we aren’t growing. Listen and take note when God speaks to you whether directly or through the scriptures. When we are corrected, accept it and apply it accordingly to our lives.

Remember and Reinforce What We Learn
Remember the things that God is giving us because from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He holds successes for the upright and a shield for the blameless. Don’t we all want to be successful in our spiritual walk? Don’t we all want to be protected by God? Yes, of course!

Now Do it!
When God give us his wisdom we must put it into practice daily. We now understand what is right, just and fair. God’s wisdom has entered our hearts and his knowledge is now pleasant to our souls. There are many benefits of wisdom so we should all be living a wise life.

You Can Be Delivered

Read Psalm 34:8, 18-20

I strongly encourage you today to meditate on these scriptures. God is so AMAZING that we can’t even measure his greatness. Let these scriptures be planted on your heart and give you hope that everything is working together for your good.
It may not feel good right now but don’t give up. God has hands his hands of protection over your life and your situation. The enemy has no dominion over your life. He must flee from your family, faith and finances because God rules those areas of our lives. God is going to deliver you from that situation that you have been praying, crying and pacing the floor looking for an answer.

Keep trusting him and keep seeking his presence. God loves us so much! In the midst of your storm, serve others and watch God change your situation. It takes courage and faith to serve someone in the midst of your trial. I’ve seen him turn my darkness into light in the blink of any eye. I don’t know who this is for but I pray you leave this blog different than when you came.

vs. 8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. You might be wondering. “How do you taste the LORD?”  Start walking with God and meditate on his word day and night. You will begin to taste and see how good the LORD is to you and others around you.   The world offers us junk food but the LORD offers us good food that is nourishment for our minds, bodies and souls to flourish. We are blessed just simply by just trusting God to take care of us.

vs. 18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. WOW! God cares about our broken hearts and those that are broken in spirit. Understand, that’s you and that’s even me in this very moment as I type this blog. Just knowing that God is close to me at this moment lets me know that all is well. Just knowing that he saves us when we are weak gives me hope to keep pressing on this Christian journey.
vs. 19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; Yes, we will have troubles because the scripture tell us that but the LORD will deliver us from them all. I’ve seen him deliver me and others around me that have been in bondage to this world. God is our deliverer in the time of trouble. The ultimate deliverance came through Jesus Christ dying on the cross to deliver us from the bondage of sin, trials, and evil spirits. Not just dying but being raised from the dead with all power in his hand.

vs. 20 he protects all his bones, not one of he, will be broken.  God protects us for our testimony but for his glory. God protects us physically and emotionally but most importantly spiritually. God is our umbrella from the rain. If you have accepted Jesus Christ into your life, you accepted salvation. There is nothing that the enemy can do to separate us from the love of God. We are free in deed in Christ Jesus.

Understand This

Read John 10:1-11

What is our purpose? Jesus has appointed us to go out and spread the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ. Spreading the gospel doesn’t just happen inside the church but it’s a street ministry.

In the scripture Jesus has appointed seventy-two other disciples and sent them side by side in pairs. They were to go ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. They had been appointed and assigned to street ministry. Jesus was training them how to go out and spread the gospel.
Street ministry is not an easy task especially when you are going into unfamiliar areas, so that’s why pairing is highly recommend. It’s for our safety but also to show that we are united as a body of believers.

Yes, the harvest is plentiful because we have many people that don’t believe, they believe but don’t affiliate with a church, or they have conformed to the ways of the world. We as disciples are needed in our communities and around the world.

We will be rejected and be resisted for spreading the good news. If people aren’t open to listen don’t take offense, just move on to the next person.

Understand this that Jesus has have given us authority to go out, heal the sick and tell people about the kingdom of God. Our purpose is to spread the good news to all that will hear.

Illustrate His Works

Read John 9:4-5

We have the opportunity as believers to be a light to this dark world. When Jesus comes for his people we will lose the opportunity to illustrate his works.  All of our time should be spent illustrating God’s work by letting God take full control.

We should be seeking opportunities to share the gospel with others that don’t know our Father in heaven. Our light should be shining so that all men can be drawn unto Christ. When we are so consumed with sin when we are in the world we find ourselves to be in a dark place. When will allow God to come into our hearts and fill us up with his Holy Spirit we now have a light that we didn’t have before.

We must make choices daily to not be of this world but understand that we are citizen kingdoms that have been commanded to love our Father in heaven, love others and spread the gospel. Don’t let your choices hinder someone from coming to Christ. We must wake up every day in prayer and allow God to take full control. We must keep our focus on Christ and illustrate his works in all that we do.
