Power of God

Read 2 Corinthians 13:3-4

We are living in a time were people don’t think that God is real. Understand that we wouldn’t even exist on this earth if God wasn’t real. God isn’t a science experiment; God is real and powerful. God is among us and his power is shown every day. We live by God’s power and he speaks through us to speak to his people.
When God renews and transforms our minds we will never be the same again. The ways of this world will be less and less attractive to the flesh.
God loves us so much that he sent his son to die on the cross for our sins. The sacrifice that Jesus made restored our relationship with God and offers a new life in Christ.
Many of us are walking around proclaiming we know God yet we fail to recognize the power of God within us. We can heal the sick, raise the dead, drive out demons, etc. Yet we don’t allow the Holy Spirit to take full control. “Why is that?” Maye be we are afraid to stand out in the crowd or afraid that we will be called crazy. “Who cares?” We should only be concerned with pleasing God and not man.
Stop putting God just inside the 4 walls of a church building and understand that the God we serve and believe in is all around us, he lives within each of us that believe in Jesus Christ.
We can’t measure God’s power but we can allow it to manifest in the physical so that all can see how great our God is.
Jesus resurrection from the dead exemplifies God’s power. Because of Jesus we have hope that we to shall live in eternity if we believe.
Power of Prayer
We need to be praying to God because the times we are living in require that we pray without ceasing. So much is going on in this world and we as Christians need to stand up and represent the kingdom of God.
No longer can we be comfortable inside the church on Sundays, no longer can we be comfortable with talking about God only when someone ask, no longer can we deny that the devil is roaming the earth, and we can no longer  deny that we have authority.
We should be commanding sickness to leave the physical body and commanding demons to come out of people.
When I saw the young man that killed the 9 people in South Carolina I immediately saw darkness and a demonic spirit within him. I wanted to reach out to him, not judge him but cast out the demon within him.
We must fast and pray, fast and pray, fast and pray and start using the authority that God has given us in Jesus name. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is too fast and pray in times like these. God is on his way back and we don’t have time to play church any longer.
My prayer today is “Lord have mercy on us! In Jesus name Amen!”

Single, Saved and Sanctified

2 Corinthians 7:32 An unmarried man us concerned about the Lord’s affairs-how he can please the Lord. (NIV)

Last year, the Singles Ministry invited all the Singles of the church to attend a meet and greet after service. I wasn’t aware that this ministry even existed, so I found myself interested to see what it was all about. I attended along with a few other singles. It was informative and refreshing to know that there was other singles in the body of Christ.

Fast forward to this year, we experienced some change in leadership within our congregation. I walked into church and one of the ministers approached me and said that I heard you are the person to speak with about the Singles Ministry. I was quite shocked that I had been recommend to lead the ministry. I have taken on this role because I know that God has a plan for me but it’s all for his glory and kingdom building.

Speaking for myself, I didn’t like being labeled single and I was always the person that had to have a boyfriend to fill complete in life. Last year, while sitting in church service I was broken and empty in the inside. I was searching for something but couldn’t seem to find it. I had been searching to fill this void all my life. As I sat in church and tears rolling down my face and I couldn’t stop crying. God spoke to me through an individual sitting next to me and he told me to “Trust Him.” Since that day I have been trusting in the LORD to fill the void of being single.

Don’t get me wrong it’s hard being single in a world where everyone has a spouse, boo thang, or side piece. You often find yourself sitting and pondering on the following questions… “What’s wrong with me?” “Will I always be single?” “What am I doing wrong?”  “Should I just settle to fit in with the crowd?”

This is where the Singles Ministry comes in to play a part in that area or season of your life. I believe that a Singles Ministry is needed in all congregations across the world. The purpose of the ministry isn’t dating but to empower spiritual growth by applying biblical understanding to being single, saved, and sanctified.

Our purpose isn’t to just exist but to live a life that is pleasing in God’s sight. One of the things that God revealed to me is that my attention isn’t divided and I can rely on God to grow those areas in my life that needed to be nurtured for spiritual growth.

Being single should be celebrated and not be a mourning period in our lives. There are so many other like minded people like us that are desiring to connect with us and grow spiritually. As a leader, God has given me the spirit of boldness to step out of my comfort zone and interact with others more. The main thing I hear is that people love the fact that there is a Single's Ministry but we just don’t focus on dating.

You can have fun and attend social events while single. Think for a moment… Have you ever been out on New Year’s and the countdown begins, at 12am all the couples starting kissing, you’re left standing there blinking and hoping that this moment passes soon.  I know I can’t be the only one that has experienced this…

Imagine if that scenario changed, you’re hanging out on New Year’s with a group of singles, the countdown begins and all of you are screaming Happy New Year’s everybody! You would be able to relate to them and not feel like the awkward person in the midst of the couples.
There is a stigma among us as people that there is something wrong with us if we are single. We don’t want to tell people that we are single. We feel like we are being judged by the ones that are dating.

I’m here to tell you that God is going to raise up a generation that is unashamed about being single but are willing to spread the gospel uncompromised, save souls and add to God’s kingdom daily.

Paul tell us in 2 Corinthians 7:32 An unmarried man us concerned about the Lord’s affairs-how he can please the Lord. (NIV)  During our singleness we can use that to develop an intimate relationship with God.  If we look at our status as being singles as a gift we would value the status more and not think of it as a negative status.

It’s not a sin to be single so let’s not dwell on the status but on the relationship that we have with God. The most important thing that that we are called to do is serve God. We are first class citizens in the kingdom of God and we are needed in this world. This may be permanent or it may be temporary but in the meantime let’s live single, saved and sanctified.

Preparing for a Journey

Read Exodus 12:11-12; 25-27

Egypt has experienced 9 plagues thus far and the 10th plague was for every firstborn of both people and animals to be struck down. The LORD was also bringing judgement on all the gods of Egypt.

It always excites me to see “gods” lowercased because there is none greater than the creator of heaven and earth, our prince of peace, our provider, the one who reigns on the throne; he is the sovereign and omnipotent God.
Pharaoh was holding the Israelites captive and God had ten plagues to come upon the Land of Egypt. God told the Israelites to take a lamb without blemish for their family and household. They were to kill the lamb and then spread the blood on the sides and top of the doorframes of the houses were they live. When God saw the blood on the doorframes he would “Passover” the house.

The Israelites were preparing for a journey to enter into the land that the LORD had promised them. The Israelites were to observe the ceremony and pass it down to their children as well.
We know that Jesus Christ blood was shed on that old rugged cross for sinners like us, so that the LORD would extend his grace and mercy to us and spare us from an eternal death. When we accept Jesus Christ into our lives be prepared for a journey. We will face adversities in this life but know that God has promised us eternal life if we believe and trust him.

Jesus Christ freed us from being slaves of the enemy by his sacrifice that he made on that cross. We should just offer up a sacrifice of praise for the sacrifice that he made to save us, knowing that we would fail him daily.

Aim for His Kingdom

Read Mathew 6:25-34

Aiming for God’s Kingdom means there is no need to worry about our lives. God values us and will take care of us just as he does the birds on the sky. We understand that from the scriptures that we can can’t add a single hour to our lives by worrying.

We all have worried about something in our lives. To be honest I have worried about what I was going to wear to work or even when money wasn’t right I worried what we were going to eat. I do know from experience that God took care of me, I didn’t go without clothes or eating.
Prayer keeps us from worrying about our physical needs. Why? Because we go before God, make our request known and trust that he will work it out for our good. The reason that we go to God with all of our problems is so that we may have peace and rest.

Last year, when I was going through a transition in my life and money was limited. I worried about what we would eat each day.
God spoke to me and hear are somethings I started to do to put food on the table for my family…..

1.       I use  the weekly sales paper which comes out on Wednesdays and it  last for 7 days (Wednesday thru Tuesday)

2.       I compare prices,  make a list of items needed and the estimated amount I will spend at each store

3.       I shop at 3 different grocery stores – Tom Thumb, Kroger, Aldi

4.       I don’t shop at Wal-Mart for food because you usually get caught up in the maze and purchase things that you don’t need

5.       I eliminate meat from our meals- We’re not vegetarians  but purchasing meat can be costly when you’re trying to feed a family – Meat is more for Sunday meals

6.       I use coupons from the Sunday sales paper and digital coupons
We should be aiming for God’s kingdom which means we must be the light of Christ to this dark world. Our lifestyles should match the God we serve. We need to be about our Father’s business and bring others to Christ so they may experience the joy we have received from serving Christ. This my friend’s will help build God’s kingdom and let God’s will be done on earth. Most importantly, it will keep us as Christians aiming for the kingdom of God and not the things of this world.  Keep God first!

Hope Brings Joy

Nehemiah 8:10 Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (NIV)

I feel in my spirit today that someone needs to be encouraged. You are wrestling within your mind on what to do next. You are wondering where the money is going to come from to pay the bills. Your job seems to be unstable and you don’t know what’s going to happen next. Your children aren’t listening and you’re just trying to guide them from the same mistakes you made when you were younger. I’m here to tell you today that God is going to change your situation around in your favor, your struggle will be your testimony and you will be restored with the joy of the Lord.

Have no doubt that the Lord is going to turn you situation around. His word tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (NIV) This scripture lets us know that God isn’t our enemy but our SAVIOR. We know the enemy wants to harm us but our God wants to prosper us. We have hope in the Lord knowing that everything is going to work out.
The joy of the Lord comes from the Holy Spirit that lives within each of us as believers. Let your joy be exemplified in your time of struggles. We know that the world doesn’t give us our joy and world definitely can’t take it away from us. Yes, the joy of the Lord is our strength!!!

I declare and decree that your struggle is over, it’s time to enjoy and have fellowship with others. Let your testimony uplift someone today. Spread your God given joy and let someone know that the God you serve is able to bring joy to their lives. It’s already getting better and God is moving your behalf!

Ask God

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (NIV)

As I was writing this blog the Lord placed this hymn in my spirit,   “I will trust in the Lord until I die.” Yes, I will trust in the Lord to give me wisdom until I die.
God’s wisdom is the truth and earthly wisdom is of the devil. His word tells us that all we have to do is ask him for wisdom if we lack it.

Well, we should all be asking because we all lack the wisdom of God daily. Reading the bible helps us obtain knowledge and mediating on the scriptures that we read brings wisdom from God.

Asking for God’s wisdom will definitely be added to my prayers especially after reading the scriptures. To be honest I wasn’t asking for wisdom from God prior to reading this scripture. I did ask for knowledge which is backwards because that’s obtained through reading the Bible but we need the wisdom from God by simply asking him for it.

I now understand that God’s wisdom is required to live life according to God’s word. Each day we must rely on God for his wisdom and truth.
A few things to add to our daily Christian lifestyles are as follows:

1.       Read the Bible Daily

2.       Pray All Day

3.       Ask God for Wisdom

4.       Let God Lead You

Rebuild Day 2 of 2

1 Peter 2:5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable  to God through Jesus Christ. (NIV)

“Come to Jesus, Come to Jesus, Come to Jesus just now.” This hymn was placed in my spirit as I was preparing to write this blog. A wise woman shared with a group of us on Sunday that we need to go back and learn the hymns of the church. These hymns seemed so long and drawn out when I was child but now they mean something to me.

Have you been rejected by someone in your lifetime?  At some point we have experienced rejection and it didn’t feel good. God has chosen each of us to come to him and have an intimate relationship with him.

Jesus Christ is the living stone that is the foundation of the church. We can’t live our lives the way we want to but we must offer spiritual sacrifices that will be acceptable in God’s sight. Don’t reject God, trying to fit in with the crowd, when he has clearly called us to stand out. We must allow God to rebuild us so that our lifestyles are changing to be more of him and less of us.

Rebuild Day 1 of 2

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (NIV)

As I write this blog, I wonder what the new heavens and earth will be like… I can only imagine but in the meantime I must continue to stand on God’s word so that I may see this place along with other believers.
I know that the new earth will be free from the curse of sin which causes suffering. The rebuilding of God’s kingdom will be a fresh start for us physically and spiritually.

In the meantime, I suggest that we take that bible off the shelf, wipe the dust off and start reading his word. Many of us are only existing right now because we aren’t reading God’s word and applying it to our lives. When we start reading the word we start living life to the fullest.
How will we know if someone is sharing the truth or a lie? We must read and study God’s word daily. NOT JUST ON SUNDAYS! I have learned so much about who God is just by reading his word for myself.

Today, I encourage you including myself that we open our bible, study God’s word and apply it to our lives. One day this temporary place we call home will pass away, but we know that according to the scripture that God’s word will not pass away.
