Prayer is an intimate time spent talking with God. Devoting ourselves to prayer connects us to God, keeps our focus on him and allows us to surrender all to him. Through prayer we can be watchful and thankful for the relationship we have with our Father in Heaven.  Prayer is a....
ü  Time to Communicate
ü  Time to express gratitude
ü  Time to celebrate
ü  Time to Confess
ü  Time to Intercede
ü  Time to Request

We communicate with friends and family every day whether via text, email, phone or social media. Our communication with God should be consistent. Pray without ceasing is important because things are constantly changing in our lives. One moment things can be going well and the next things could be going downhill. This is why consistent communication with God is so important.

No matter how things are in our lives whether good or bad, we should have something to be thankful for that God has done. Often times we find every reason to complain but not enough reasons to be thankful. Our hearts should be filled with gratitude for the way that God loves us. The most amazing thing that God has done for us that we didn’t deserve, was send his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins, so that we may have eternal life. That’s truly something to be thankful for.

Just got a new car, promotion on the job, bill was paid, graduation, etc. We often want to celebrate with our friends and family. We need to be celebrating these victories with God. He is the reason that these moments have occurred in our lives. Celebrate with God and let him know how excited we are about the accomplishments in our lives.

We have so many sins that we commit daily. We sometimes want to act like we are perfect individuals because we are saved by grace. *WRONG* We all sin daily and fall short of the glory of God. We have to constantly confess our sins and ask for forgiveness from our Father in heaven. We feel better when we confess our sins and not hold onto to that guilt within ourselves.

The beauty of prayer is to be able to intercede on others behalf. We should be praying for others all the time. We see so much going on in the world around us, which calls for prayer for the people of God. We have to pray for our sisters and brothers in Christ. We have to pray for the lost people in this world. God calls us to be intercede on others behalf. (Future blog coming on interceding in Prayer)

We all have something we stand in need of in our lives. Instead of talking to our family and friends about it, we should be going to God to make our request known. He is the sovereign Lord and the one that can fulfill our request according to his will and purpose for our lives. God will answer our request when we seek his counsel and guidance.

  1. Thanks sis, great reminder of what prayer actually means. Most times we are too carried away with our life challenges that we think prayer is all about requesting..
