Psalm 145:7 They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of you righteousness. (NIV)

God’s abundant goodness is something we should celebrate every day. You can celebrate with singing, dancing, teaching, preaching, etc.  We as sinners could have been left deserted by God and sent to eternal death. Above all, God’s love is so amazing that he sent his son Jesus Christ to save us so that we may have eternal life.

No matter what may be going on in the world at this moment. Don’t let the things going on in this world discourage you. We know that the things of this world are only temporary.

Jesus Christ has given us hope to endure our temporary home.  God is still blessing us abundantly each and every moment. Understand, that he doesn’t bless us for what we do but for what Jesus Christ did. Jesus Christ bridged the gap for us to receive God’s goodness and abundance.

Jesus promised us a life of abundance. According 1 Corinthians 2:9, we can’t even imagine with the human mind what God has prepared for us that love him. This is truly something to celebrate, knowing that God is preparing things for us although we fail him daily. He loves us so much!

When I speak of abundance, I’m not talking about abundance of worldly possessions. I’m talking about spiritual abundance-eternal life. Don’t get me wrong, God does take care of his children while here on earth but don’t let that be our main focus. Our main focus should be to please God and one day see Jesus face to face. We must keep our minds stayed on Jesus and not the things of this world so that we may experience God’s goodness of eternal life.

Fear God

Read: Psalm 31:19

To know God is to stand in amazement of his power and glory. When we made a choice to surrender to the Lord we started to understand who he is and what he does. We stand in awe of who he is rather than what he does for us. God is our creator that’s enough to be amazed about!

Our God is holy, perfect, sovereign, our provider, protector, he reigns, merciful, graceful, deliverer, strengthener and way maker. (Feel free to comment below and add some more amazing things about our God.)

Our sinful nature got us in a lot of trouble and caused us to be separated form God. Our amazing God didn’t want to be separated from us, so he provided a way for us through his son Jesus Christ. God’s love for us is amazing just because the sacrifice he made with his son Jesus Christ to save us from eternal death.
Now we know that God hates sin because he is sinless. When we accepted Jesus Christ as our savior were given wisdom to know right from wrong. We know understand God’s view on sin. Just a reminder: God doesn’t hate us but he does hate our sinful nature. We should fear his discipline when we continue to be disobedient to his word.

Understand that our fear of God is that we willfully submit to his will and way. We worship him because we have thanksgiving in our hearts for who he is. One of the amazing things I mentioned earlier was that God is our protector or refuge. Since we know he is our protector we should always trust in him. We as believers should give thanks for those who fear the Lord. We are truly blessed individuals!

Sharing the Gospel

2 Corinthians 9:13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. (NIV)

Are you sharing the gospel? To share the gospel is to simply tell others about Jesus Christ. You can share your testimony or even biblical stories. Your lifestyle can also be away of sharing the gospel with others.
Although, we aren’t perfect, we do serve a perfect God. I think it’s very important to share this with others. Many times the perception is that we are perfect individuals but that is far from the truth. I always share the things that God has delivered me from and I also don’t mind sharing the things that I struggle with from day to day.

Sharing the gospel with others brings Glory to God. We should enjoy sharing the good news especially about how much God loves us. He loves us unconditionally even though we don’t deserve it because of our sinful nature. God wants to have an intimate relationship with the people that he created to worship him only. We should desire to have a relationship with the creator.
Our obedience to God’s word also brings glory to God. When others see the good deeds that we do it brings glory to him. Anytime I teach on God’s word, people will come up to me and say you did a great job or that was a great word. My response is always “To God be the glory!” When we hear the word or read the word we must apply the word to our daily lives. It’s a daily struggle but that’s why we put all our trust in God to bring us through. Our obedience and confession of the gospel brings the lost to Jesus Christ. All I can say that in these perilous times: Share, Share, Share…

2 Timothy 1:3 I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. (ESV)

Wrap-Up of the Scripture
In the scripture Paul is writing a letter to Timothy-his spiritual son letting him know that he is praying for him day and night. He’s also letting him know that he is serving the same God that his ancestors served. He is able to serve God with a clear conscience because God has cleared his conscience. Paul is giving Timothy encouragement to keep pressing on this Christian journey. Although, Paul was in jail awaiting execution, he still wanted to pass on his spiritual knowledge to his brother in Christ.

Right or Wrong
It’s Saturday night and you have decided to hang out with your friends. When you get together with this group of people, you love to drink and even get drunk to the point you don’t remember anything about that night. While you’re drinking you hear a voice telling you to put that shot glass down and go home. You know that what your doing is wrong because there’s a 1,000 other things you could be doing that are so right for you. That is your conscience discerning between good and evil. That voice you heard was the Holy Spirit speaking to you.

Then you have the enemy telling you, Aww man you need to keep drinking, you won’t be anything in life, no one loves you, you aren’t pretty enough, remember all that stuff you did, you had children out of wedlock, you aren’t rich enough, you’ll never be able to go to school, you’re a thug, you aren’t smart enough, etc.
When the enemy starts to speak he will try his best to tear us down to our lowest point in life. I’m here to tell you today that we serve an awesome God that is a forgiving God of all our past wrongs.

Many of us are holding our guilt inside from things we have done or are doing now. Why do we hold on to the past? Why do we replay the hurt over and over again? Why do we give up on life? Our guilty conscience can be cleansed when we bring all of ours sin to Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of our sins. There’s no little sin or big sin, it’s just SIN. Sin separates us from God because he hates sin. He doesn’t hate us though, just our sinful nature. Our relationship will be restored when we give our lives over to Christ Jesus. We will have a clear conscience because we confess our sins and then repent with all sincerity in our hearts. Only God, our Creator can clear our conscience.

Today, I ask that we let the guilt go and give it to Jesus so that we may find rest in his presence. Jesus already died for our sins so there is no need to hold on to the guilt. Let go and watch God change you into a new person. He will make us better than the way we were before.

Praise Him Anyhow

Psalm 34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. (ESV)

It’s easy to praise God when everything is going good in our lives. What about when the bad times come? What do we do?
When the sun is shining our way we don’t mind giving praise to the Lord. Oh, but let God not answer our prayer in the way we thought it should go. We stop praising, start complaining and even start to doubt God. All the praise goes out the door. Let’s be real, it’s hard to praise when the rain is pouring into our lives and we can’t see our way through. It’s amazing how we stop praising but God keeps loving us anyhow. He loves us through the good and bad times. God’s love isn’t conditional like our praise is conditional. We have to stop being conditional praisers and move to being unconditional praisers.

Praising God is free of charge. Just look at all he does for us on a daily basis. Take a look back over our lives and see the many things he has brought us through. Many of us wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for his grace and mercy.
God is great and greatly to be praised. God is our creator, the maker of heaven and earth. He sent Jesus Christ to save us from our many sins. God is worthy to be praised for all he does for us. We don’t deserve it but he still does it. We owe him all the praise, he owes us nothing. We must understand that whether we choose today to praise him or wait until later know that the scripture says in Philippians 2:10-11 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (NIV)

Our praise should be joyful which reflects our grateful hearts. We should give praise not for what God does but just for who he is all by himself. We have been set free and delivered from our old lifestyles. Let’s just praise him anyhow!

Peace on Earth

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of the Messiah, to which you were also called in one body, control your hearts. Be thankful. (HCSB)

What have we allowed to rule our hearts? The enemy has ruled some of our hearts which has left us feeling empty, broken, unloved, upset, depressed, fearful, doubtful, anxious, confused, helpless, sad, etc.
It’s time to take back what the devil has stolen from us and allow the Messiah to control our hearts. Allowing the Messiah to control our hearts changes us to be better people. The Messiah can heal us from all the pain that we have experienced. He frees us from the enemy’s stronghold on our lives. He delivers us from our sinful lifestyles. When we surrender our mind, body and soul to Christ we allow him to take full control. Through the Messiah changing us we find joy, peace, grace and favor.

We declare and decree today that we will not go back to the way we were before the Messiah came into our lives and changed us. We have been forgiven of our sins and we have a fresh start in Christ. We will allow him to rule our hearts forever. We will continue to give ourselves away only to him so that he may use us to bring glory to our Father in heaven.

Spread the good news so that others may experience this amazing relationship that we have with the Messiah. Falling in love with Jesus has been the best decision we have made in our lives. We should be thankful that we have a God that gives us peace while here on earth!

"The Storm is Over Now"

Read Psalm 107:29-32; Matthew 8:23-27

Are we afraid of the storm? The news reported that it will be a severe thunderstorm today in the area where you live. They have advised all the people to stay inside until the storm passes over. People’s reactions to thunderstorms vary, some are annoyed, and some neutral, some panic and some are even excited.
I want to focus on the reaction of panicking during the storm for a moment. When we panic it means that we are afraid of what is about to happen because it’s something that is usually not in our control. As we see from the scriptures, when we are afraid it shows that we have little faith.

Many of us have faced storms, are facing storms right now or a storm is headed our way. Understand that on this Christian journey we will face storms in our lives. A storm can be losing a job, losing a loved one, children not listening to our instructions, spouses not supporting us, parents abandoning us, friends talking about us, funds are low and bills are due, etc.

Let me encourage you today, keep following Jesus as his disciples did as they went into the boat. When storms arise in your life know that Jesus is right there with you during the storm. We don’t have to be fearful because the God we serve, even the winds and the waves obey his voice. Exercise your faith and know that the storm we will pass over. Jesus is the reason for the storms in our lives ceasing.
In the scriptures it says they rejoiced after the the storm was stilled. I’m challenging us to rejoice in the midst of the storm because we know the God we serve will make his presence known in the midst of our temporary situation. If he brings us to it, he will bring us through the storm. Know that trouble don’t last always. Our God is faithful and wonderful to his children! There is always a blessing in the storm, don’t miss it panicking.

Thanksgiving in April

Psalm 95:6 Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. (HCSB)

Why is it so hard for us to worship God? He is our creator, so we wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for him creating us. Let me give some other reasons why it shouldn’t be hard to worship him. This is just a list of some of the things he gives us….
1.       Unconditional love
2.       Grace
3.       Holy Spirit
4.       Peace
5.       Joy
6.       Faith
7.       Hope
8.       Strength
9.       Salvation
10.   Eternal life
11.   Forgiveness
12.   Rest
The list could go on and on. All of these things are because of God’s mercy for his people and we don’t deserve it.
Question: “Why don’t we deserve it?”

Answer: “We are disobedient to God’s word.”
Just knowing all of the things that he does for us we should have thanksgiving in our hearts and give God all the praise. God is our creator which is why we should bow down and worship him only. He is exalted above all other gods. Any other gods are just idols. <<< Notice that “gods” is lowercase. >>>

All people should be worshiping God to give him the glory and honor that he deserves. We can worship publicly such as in a congregational setting or in private such as in our homes. Our worship should be focused on God and him alone. Don’t get caught up and people pleasing worship. Our worship can be done through reading the bible, praying, dancing, singing, and helping others. Our deepest worship will come when we are able to give thanks to God in acknowledge him for all that he has done, doing and is going to do.

Praise and Pray Day 19

Revelation 22:12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give each person according to what they have done.

Jesus is on his way back soon! Are we ready? His word didn’t say the day or time when he would come but it simply says soon. If the day or time had been provided we would get comfortable thinking we have time to get ready. Since his word says soon, we know that we don’t have time at all.

When Jesus return he will bring rewards with him. This is only for believers that served the Lord faithfully. We must understand that by following Jesus Christ we will be persecuted for his name sake because the world hates him. We must build our treasures up in heaven and not on earth so that we may receive our reward when Jesus returns. We all have spiritual gifts from God and we must use these to glorify God only. The reward Jesus has for us is worth serving him wholeheartedly everyday while here on earth. We will be rewarded individually and not collectively for the work we have done for the Lord. We should give praises to the Lord, just for him not holding us accountable for what others aren’t or simply won’t do.  Above all, the work we do for Christ will not go in vain because has promised us a reward.

We must make a choice today to serve Jesus Christ. Jesus is waiting to hear from us and welcome us with open arms. He doesn’t want to be separated from us but wants us near him. Once we accept him we become one of God’s children. Jesus offers us eternal life and not death. Follow Jesus starting today!

Praise and Pray Day 18

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (HCSB)

Many times we find ourselves afraid to share the gospel or the good news about Jesus Christ. We feel that we don’t know how to pray or we haven’t been saved long enough to bear witness to others. I remember feeling like this when I was part of outreach ministry at a church. They would ask us to go door to door handing out flyers. I didn’t feel ready to be out spreading the word to others. I didn’t know enough about the scriptures. I couldn’t even quote a scripture.  I didn’t feel that I knew how to pray like the others around me. I’ve matured in Jesus and so things have changed now. J
Moving forward, as we can see from the scripture that the purpose of the Holy Spirit is to give us power to be able to boldly witness to the lost throughout the world. The Holy Spirit gives us power to let the Father’s will be done in our lives. When we put our trust in Jesus Christ we are filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God.

We know that we can only receive the Holy Spirit by Jesus Christ leaving the earth in the physical. Also, we know that the Holy Spirit comes on us once we accept him as our Lord and Savior. To be able to spread the good news about Jesus we must go to our Father in prayer daily. Asking God to give us the words to speak to his people.  The time that we spend with him will develop us to be able to spread the word to the lost. We also must read the Bible and mediate on the scriptures day and night. I recommend that when you first start out spreading the gospel start with family and friends.  Even, if you don’t know scriptures yet, all you have to do is share your testimony (story) with them. You would be surprised how your story will inspire your family and friends to desire to know more about the God you serve. Start today spreading the gospel to just 1 person….

Praise and Pray Day 17

Read John 16:7

In 2011, I was planning my son’s 1 year old birthday party. My granny was 90 years old and I wanted to have a combined celebration. As I was sitting at home planning the party and creating an invite on Facebook. A voice spoke to me and said, “Your plans are not my plans.” That same day, I received the news that my granny had passed away.  I didn’t understand until later in life, that this was the Holy Spirit speaking to me.
Who is the Holy Spirit?
God is the Holy Spirit. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Understand, that there is only one God but he is manifested into three persons which many of us know as the Trinity.

The Reason for the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit lives in each of us when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit comes to give us new life in Christ because before we were spiritually dead. The Holy Spirit is a confirmation that we are part of God’s body and the universal church.
The Holy Spirit gives us spiritual gifts. Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such thins there is no law. (NIV)
The Holy Spirit helps us to understand the scriptures in the bible and apply it to our daily Christian lifestyle. The Holy Spirit helps us to pray and he intercedes on our behalf. The Holy Spirit leads and guides us to do God’s will.
Jesus Christ Ministry
Jesus Christ taught us a lot while he was here on earth. He taught us about our Father in Heaven, how to pray, love, give, about the Holy Spirit, healing, and many other things. Since Jesus is no longer in the physical, he hast sent the Counselor-Holy Spirit to lead and guide us. We know as believers that our God is never far from us because he lives within each of us. Everything that Jesus taught us, the Holy Spirit reminds us. The Holy Spirit allows us the ability to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost. We are boldly able to find the words to speak to the lost and tell them about our God. We should just offer up a shout of praise, for Jesus sending us the Holy Spirit. Our hearts should be grateful to know that our Lord loves us unconditionally and he always wants us to prosper.
Jesus wants us all to have the Holy Spirit which means we must accept him as our Lord and Savior. If you are already a believer keep pressing and praying. If you aren’t a believer in Jesus Christ, I pray that you open your heart so that you may experience the love of our Creator.

Prayer and Praise Day 16

Read John 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me. (HCSB)
Question: "How are you surviving?"

Answer: "Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God"
Jesus is letting us know that he is the vine- our life support and we are the branches-the vessels on life support. We must remain in him to survive. If we remain in him we will produce the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 But the Holy Spirit produced this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.

Jesus lets us know that we can do nothing without him. "We wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for God creating us." So we must understand that we are nothing without him.

Also, understand that if we aren't connected to Jesus Christ we aren't living Christ like which means that we aren't bringing Glory to God. If we were on life support and the machine was turned off we would die. Many of us are walking around physically but we are dead spiritually because we aren't connected to  Jesus. We have connected to the enemy that wants to kill, steal and destroy us. Jesus is our life support. If we're not connected to him we are spiritually dead and also can physically die.

I encourage everyone that reads this even myself, that if you are already connected to the vine stay connected. If you're not connected to the vine, get connected today.

Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior

Simple Prayer

Jesus, save me!

Praise and Pray Day 15

John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I choose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask in my name, he may give it to you. (ESV)

Jesus says that he choose us and we didn’t choose him. This scripture lets us know that Jesus has authority and power. We can’t do anything without Christ first choosing us. Jesus has to choose us first before we can be able to choose him. Think about the beginning of time in Genesis 1:27 God created us in his own image. We wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for God creating male and female. Which means that he choose us long before we choose him. Also, when we sin we are separated from God which is why we accept Jesus Christ and he offers us salvation. We then have to choose God because we have a free will to decide to choose the enemy or our creator.

Not only did he choose us but he appointed us to bear fruit. What fruit should we be bearing? Jesus wasn’t referring to apples, oranges or plums. Galatians 5:22 says, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, faithfulness,

This sounds like some fruit we all should want to bear in our lives. What do you think? If we are bearing these fruit the world can see that Jesus dwells within us. As we can see, the only way we are to  have these fruit is by Jesus choosing us and the Holy Spirit dwelling within us as believers.

Jesus says that whatever you ask in my name, he may give it to you. Understand that God is our Father so he may give or he may deny what we are asking for. See God will give us what is best for us because he doesn’t want to harm us. God will give us what we ask for, if it is in his will for our lives.

I’ll use myself as a testimony to give all the glory to God. Last year, I was going through a rough time in my life. I drove to Wal-Mart one night looking for an Apartment Guide book. So I had been listening to my gospel music on Pandora to get me through this struggle. I remember listening to Smokie Norful and his songs were ministering to my spirit.  I arrived at Wal-Mart and I wanted to get a Smokie Norful cd while I was there looking for this book, so I asked God if I could get it. His reply was a simple no. I was confused by the response and didn’t understand why He denied me the cd. So time went on and I still hadn’t got the cd.  So I asked him again if I could get the cd and this time the response was yes. That was great news to hear but a week or so had passed and I still didn’t have the cd. I don’t even think I had been to a store that sold cd’s after he said yes. So a week or so later, a friend text me (see text message below)

Friend: “What are you doing Friday night?”

Me:  “nothing at the moment.”

Friend:  “Want to go see Smokie Norful in concert?”

Me: *Praise Break* *smiling from ear to ear*

To make a long story short God is AWESOME! I saw Smokie Norful live in concert at a church in the local area and he preached a little that night as well. Also, as we were leaving they were selling his latest cd. I had left my purse in my friends car. I asked the lady how much the cd’s cost and she said $10.00. I asked my friend for her keys so I could get my purse. She said don’t worry about it, I’ll pay for it. Look at God, I got the Smokie Norful cd and a live performance. This definitely is more than I could imagine.
